The Description should explain the goals and objectives to be reached, the business need and problem to be addressed, potentials pitfalls and challenges, approaches and execution methods, resource estimates, people and organizations involved, and other relevant information that explains the need for project from startup to finish.
Keep in mind also the importance of the stakeholders, whom do you need the most bye in from and be specific as to who are your stakeholders.
Make sure to create a specific timeline for the project, milestones, and tasks.
No Gantt chart I think this would be helpful for you as well, allows you to see at a quick glance to see where your project is and the next steps. Just a few more details and an updated objective will help.
