 In a written paper of 1,200-1,500 words, apply the concepts of epidemiology and nursing research to a communicable disease.

Communicable Disease Selection

Choose one communicable disease from the following list:

1. Chickenpox
2. Tuberculosis
3. Mononucleosis
4. Hepatitis B
5. HIV

Epidemiology Paper Requirements

Include the following in your assignment:

1. Description of the communicable disease (causes, symptoms, mode of transmission, complications, treatment) and the demographic of interest (mortality, morbidity, incidence, and prevalence).
2. Describe the determinants of health and explain how those factors contribute to the development of this disease.
3. Discuss the epidemiologic triangle as it relates to the communicable disease you have selected. Include the host factors, agent factors (presence or absence), and environmental factors. (The textbook describes each element of the epidemiologic triangle).
4. Explain the role of the community health nurse (case finding, reporting, data collecting, data analysis, and follow-up).
5. Identify at least one national agency or organization that addresses the communicable disease chosen and describe how the organization(s) contributes to resolving or reducing the impact of disease.

A minimum of three references is required.

Refer to “Communicable Disease Chain” and “Chain of Infection” for assistance completing this assignment.

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Discrete-State Process Control

Work the problems below.  To receive any credit, you must show all work.  You may submit your work in a word processing document or in a pdf file.  Graphic files are not acceptable submissions.  Your file submission document should be entitled Week7AYourGID (replace YourGID with your specific GID).

1. Produce a ladder diagram that will cause output Y  to go HIGH when switch A and B are closed OR when switch C is closed.  (Hint:  Start with the Boolean equation).
2. Design the ladder diagram for a new Ford truck door/safety belt system.  When the truck door is open and the seat belt is not clicked in, the truck will not start.  If door is closed and seat belt is clicked in, the key will start the ignition.
3. Create a ladder diagram to control a washing machine. This washing machine would have a fill cycle to one level, a 10 second wash cycle, a 10 second rinse cycle and then drain. Include a start button, low level switch, high level switch, an agitator motor, a fill valve and a drain valve.
4. A control system is needed to control a small shopping center parking lot lighting system and the exterior lighting for the building. The design specifications require that the parking lot lighting and the exterior lighting turn on at dusk automatically. The parking lot lighting should automatically turn off at midnight but the building exterior lighting should remain on until dawn when it is turned off automatically. The system should repeat daily and should not require adjustment for the change in the seasons. Locate and specify an appropriate sensor if it is to operate at 120 vac as an input to a PLC. Create the ladder diagram to accomplish the specified control. Paste the sensor specifications into your document.

• According to the text, physicians can be held professionally liable for issues surrounding their relationships with patients, staff, and other providers. Select two (2) areas of professional liability that you think pose the most serious legal threat for a physician in a medical practice. Provide a rationale for your selection.
• Compare and contrast the main requirements of the Stark Law and the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute. Next, analyze the main reasons why it is important for practice administrators to understand how these laws affect the operations of the medical practice. Support your analysis with at least one (1) real-world example.
• Please give 2 examples of actions that can be taken by a physician or the medical practice to reduce the incidence of them being sued for issues regarding professional liability?

Research Paper

The Research Paper must demonstrate the understanding of new learning in project management and how it relates to cost and value management. This assignment should be six to eight pages (not including the title and reference pages) and should integrate the reading, multimedia, and class discussions. It is mandatory to have research from the classroom text, as well as at least three scholarly sources from the Internet or Ashford Online Library to support your views.

Consider the validity of your sources carefully before using them in academic papers. It is recommended to use examples from your professional experience where possible or build from your learning in the discussion boards.

Focus of the Research Paper

Use at least one project you have been a team member of or a project manager for as an example to contextualize the research topics below:

All of the following topics must be addressed in order for the paper to be complete:

• Discuss the importance of work packages to support the creation and use of the WBS.
• Examine how to establish a cost and schedule performance measurement baseline.
• Present examples of EVM and how it will help the PM understand project status.
• Examine how the PM uses project control charts to show project status and present value.
• Recommend an effective change management process to ensure a successful project.

Writing the Research Paper

The Research Paper:

• Must be six to eight double-spaced pages in length (not including the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
• Must include a cover page that includes:
• – Title of Paper
• – Student’s name
• – Course name and number
• – Instructor’s name
• – Date submitted
• Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
• Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.
• Must conclude with a restatement of the thesis and a conclusion paragraph.
• Must use at least three outside sources from the Internet or Ashford Online Library.
• Must use APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide to document all sources.
• Must include, on the final page, a Reference Page that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.
