They are also often the models for ethical leadership in their institution. Knowing ethical theory as a health care administrator is not enough. Codes of ethical conduct are also important, especially since complying with them can often be a necessary aspect of maintaining professional status and licensure. As a health care administrator, you need to know how to read codes of ethics and apply these policies in practice. It also requires the health care administrator to be sensitive to the ethical responsibilities of each party involved in a given situation. Sometimes ethical obligations of health care providers, administrators, and others may support or conflict with one another. It is the job of the health care administrator to promote professionalism and ethical behavior for all relevant stakeholders while efficiently resolving disputes.
