Instructions
The focus of the week 8 assignment is download MariaDB and then run THREE queries from a mock database of New York restaurants. The queries are the basic query, the proficient query and the detailed query. Step-by-step video instructions for all these tasks (and also a step-by -step video on how to download Virtual Box if you are a Mac user rather than a Windows user) can be found in Week 8 Resources in the Ask the Instructor area.
The basic sequence of tasks for Windows users is as follows:
- Download MariaDB.
- Run the three restaurant review queries (basic, proficient and distinguished) and capture a screenshot of each table in all three queries for inclusion in your paper.
- Complete the second section of your paper describing appropriate uses for relational and non-relational databases.
- Complete the third section of your paper explaining how relational and non-relational databases retrieve data.
- Complete the fourth section of your paper describing critical practices for database maintenance.
