How do you find all factors of 54?

##1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18, 27, and 54##.

Factors are numbers which divide exactly into another number.

I would say take 54 and start with 9, because I know ##9 xx 6 = 54##.

We could divide by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Those are your key numbers. Which of these do we not need to consider?

##54## is definitely not divisible by 4 and 5, so ignore those.

Remember to work with factor pairs. If you have one factor, by dividing that into ##54## you get another factor immediately.

Of course, a factor of 54 would be 1. All numbers have factors of ##1## and itself.

Also, there’s a tip to know if something is divisible by 3. Add the numbers. For example, ##5+4=9##.

If it equals to ##3, 6 or 9##, which it does, that means it’s divisible by three. So that’s where our factor of 3 comes in.

Another little titbit, if the number is even, it is divisible by two. If a number ends in a ##0 or 5## it is divisible by 5

So, our factor pairs would be: ##1xx54, ” ” 2xx27, ” “3xx18,” ” 6xx9##

In order, the factors are:

##1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18, 27, and 54##.

Hope I helped. 🙂
