Instumentation and measurment lab thermal sensors

1. Reference the textbook problem 4.8. The RTD of Problem 4.7 is used in the bridge circuit of Figure 4.4. If R1 = R2 = R3 = 100Ω and the supply voltage is 10.0 V, calculate the voltage the detector must be able to resolve in order to resolve a 1.0°C change in temperature.

2. Reference the textbook problem 4.10. Suppose the RTD of Problem 4.7 has a dissipation constant of 25mW/°C and is used in a circuit that puts 8 mA through the sensor. If the RTD is placed in a bath at 100°C, what resistance will the RTD have? What then is the indicated temperature?

3. Reference the textbook problem 4.12. Modify the divider of Example 4.8 so that the self-heating is reduced to 0.1°C. What is the divider voltage for 20°C? What is the divider voltage for 19°C and 21°C?

4. Reference the textbook problem 4.16. If a type J thermocouple is to measure 500°C with a -10°C reference, what voltage will be produced?
