Born This Way by Lady Gaga

In her song “Born This way,” Lady Gaga communicates much about culture. The music is very inspiring and gives a wide range of meanings. Lady Gaga focuses on one loving themselves the way they are. She explains how her mother brought her up and that everybody is beautiful in their way. She gives space for everyone to stand despite their flaws. “Born This Way” encourages everyone to be themselves without wearing masks. The song also focuses on equality by allowing people to love people of the same or different gender. Lady Gaga uses various stylistic devices in her piece. Using music as her mode of communication affects her message because many people end up listening to the song and get the message, for many people enjoy music. In her piece, Lady Gaga does not represent ethics because she advocates gay relationships as opposed to the ethically known male-female sexual relationships. The ideology of gay relationships has led to very hot debates on whether people should follow that route. The song’s message has affected positions people are taking on, whether it is equality in sexuality or moral decay.

In her song “Born This Way,” Lady Gaga uses her voice to make the world get conscious of the times we are living in. Being straightforward about her message on gay brought controversy as to whether the song should be embraced or dismissed (Pribadi, 2020). They left the lean pop culture and toiled to thrive. Her outspokenness led to many judgments from everyone, but she spoke about what she believed in. Her song was a real hit for six weeks.

In choosing music to convey her message, Lady Gaga was able to reach so many people. Music is a vital part of everybody’s life, and using it means meeting a key area of people’s lives. Using music makes it relatable to all people. Other methods of communication, like television, had a way of sharing the message broadly. She uses her voice melodious voice to capture the attention of people. As she sang, she repeated some lines, like when she said she is beautiful, to emphasize her central idea of self-acceptance and the need for people to love themselves the way they are (Alouw et al., 2021). She uses music as an inspiration and uses illusion, anecdote, and repetition to display her message and connect with her audience easily and effectively.

The song “Born This Way” does not represent ethics based on Christian teachings. Lady Gaga encourages the LGBTQ community, which involves sexual relationships between people of the same gender. She stands firm on her point as she coveys that one should be allowed to be who one genuinely are (Madzivanyika, 2020). Nowadays, the issue of homosexuality has been a profound topic of discussion as the number of people continues to increase. The Biblical teachings are against homosexuality.

The underlying ideology in Lady Gaga’s song is the acceptance of homosexuals. She drives the point of accepting oneself and accepting others the way they are. Though so much has been said about this, many people have bought her ideas and are now ready to accept homosexuals (Pribadi, 2020). Many people have changed their minds about homosexuality, and even countries have started allowing people to marry partners of the same gender. Christians are still holding on to their teachings on male-female marriages. The issue of homosexuality has caused division in ideologies.

The ideology of accepting homosexuality makes those who are homosexuals feel accepted in the community. They feel like part of the normal society and that their lives matter. However, the Christian community feels that accepting homosexuality is wrong and goes against God’s will. Family members who view homosexuality as wrong may leave the family homosexual family member out and lack the to show them love. Societies that embrace homosexuality continue to have more homosexuals and may fail to have a future generation for homosexual marriages do not sire children (Simpon et al., 2018). The future of such communities is deemed. Taking an ethical position of not allowing homosexuality would lead to a better community with only male and female relationships.
