Hi Lovely. This is the final draft instructions 4.6. Please start working through it according to instructions to finalize. I’m waiting on student to give me any feedback he has from his instructor, which will need to be added in as well as feedback on the outline and thesis. But I wanted to go ahead and get this to you so you can start. 🙂 I’m attaching 4.5 which was the last draft (the instructions for it are below but don’t worry about them unless you notice something not done.) If he does not give us the feedback we need or the outline and thesis statement, we will have to work around it. Just use this document for the final. If you feel it needs a stronger thesis statement or stronger conclusion, please feel free to firm it up. You can make whatever changes you need to in order to get it perfect (except the resources part).Personally, I feel it is lacking “umph” and is pretty basic. So fix that. haha

Just go through it with a fine tooth comb and if something sounds off or need elaborated on, please fix. Do NOT add resources. If you feel one really needs to be put in, make a copy of the document and add it there so we can give him a choice. I’m putting down 10 hours but we have room to add 2-3 more hours of time if we need to.

‘Linguistic terrorism’ reflects some challenges people face in the current society. Linguistic terrorism has been defined as a repeat of various attacks on one’s native language or tongue by a dominant culture. The definition of linguistic terrorism has posed effects, especially to one’s self –esteem. For example, Gloria explained her experiences with linguistic terrorism where she highlighted being subjected to oppression. The theme from ‘Linguistic terrorism’ would be why should one be oppressed based on the native tongue by a dominant culture? “We only said goodbye with words I died a hundred times, you go back to her and I go back to black…” Language plays a vital role among people in different societies (Christoffersen, 2019). A person’s native tongue identifies him or her to the rest of the people with a different language. It also gives him or her a sense of identity because he or she would always conform to a particular group irrespective of race or culture. Language acts as a fundamental tool that one uses to express views, ideas, and opinions regarding various matters in society. Irrespective of different native tongues, it would be prudent that different languages be identified, recognized, and respected because they play a vital role in establishing one’s identity as well as giving one a sense of belonging.

In the ‘linguistic terrorism’Anzaldua was oppressed because of native tongue known as Chicano Spanish. In the book ‘ Back to the Lake,’ (pg.57), She was bold and defended her language because it had an evolutionary origin such as a blend of Spanish and English that developed because of the need for communication. Additionally, she defended her language because she believed that it had been created by her ancestors for a particular purpose. Her action, therefore, portrayed language as living. There should be no oppression of the people based on language because language keeps changing and people can, therefore, identify themselves with other different language, thus the people have the freedom to create their language.

In conclusion, language plays a vital role among the people because it introduces the people and makes them identify themselves. The language also gives them a sense of belonging and from different native languages spoken, one can tell the identity in line with the race.
