Research Paper

Write a research paper in APA format on a subject of your choosing that is related to Business Intelligence.  Integrate what you have learned from the course(Business Intelligence) resources (.e.g. Textbook Readings, Discussion Board Posts, Chapter Presentations) into your document.

As you consider the topic for your research paper, try and narrow the subject down to a manageable issue.  Search for academic journal articles (i.e. peer reviewed) and other sources related to your selected subject.  Because this is a research paper, you must be sure to use proper APA format citations.

Your paper must include an introduction stating what you paper is about and a logical conclusion.

This paper must contain a minimum of 1500 words of content and use at least 5 peer reviewed sources.  Peer reviewed sources include:  Academic Journal Articles, Textbooks, and Government Documents.  At least one of the textbooks for this course must be used as a source for this paper.

Example Topics:

  • Use of Artificial Intelligence in Astronomy Research.
  • Business Uses of Natural Language Processing.
  • Use of Game Theory in Business Intelligence Systems.
  • Popular Programming Languages for BI Analysis.
  • Unique Data Visualization.
  • Artificial Neural Networks and stock forecasting.

Identify two related articles published RECENTLY that describe/discuss the topic of Big Data and the Applications. One article should be ONLY published on the Internet, and the other article should be ORIGINALLY published off the Internet (but, it may also be available on the Internet). Write a short report in APA (American Psychology Association) style on the information technology discussed in the articles, which accounts 10% of your final grade. The report should be word-processed in Times New Roman 12 pt font, with no less than FIVE and no more than SIX double-spaced and numbered pages (with 1” margins on all sides), excluding figures, tables, or illustrations. It should include the following parts (no title page is needed): § Your name and course information (No separate title page, please.). § Title of your report. § Abstract of your report. § Discussion on the main points and issues in the two articles via comparison and contrast. § Your reasons of choosing the two articles, and your comments on them. § References (correct citations in APA for both articles, and other articles cited in the report).

Note: · The articles should be technical articles written in layman language with few or no technical formulas and technical jargons. · The articles should be as recent as possible.

Content based topics

A history of the movement you participated in

Current activism across the country related to activism your group participated in

Tactical/Process Topics

the decision making process in class

the “intensities of activism” and how people come together in activism

how effective protests are in the face of current legislation

the effectiveness of coalition building

student activism surrounding matters that are not directly about education

II. Creating an Argument

You should take a position on your topic (e.g. Are the tactics used in your movement useful? Can students create change?) and build an academic stance.

This is not (only) a narrative paper

Your experience is important. Please include your thoughts and feelings about the Day of Action if you see fit, but do not make this a reflection paper.

Always link your experiences with a larger analysis about how activism works.

This is a research paper

You are writing about what social movement scholars have to say about activism. Find research that supports your ideas about how people build movements.

*** YOU MUST INCLUDE 5 ACADEMIC SOURCES IN YOUR PAPER***

Please see the separate document “academic source guidelines” for what counts as an academic source.
