Agricultural Programming Research

Agricultural Programming Research  Students taking this course will be required to write a research or position paper relating to programming and/or adult learning in the context of agricultural and extension education. For example, papers should focus on adult education (an issue, a program, a person) or learning and development programs (any age). The papers should be a minimum of eight (8) double-spaced pages. Suggested topics for papers: Case Study of an Educational Organization • Select a local, national, or international adult education program or organization and develop a case study of their practices. This can include Extension and their personnel. • Interview key personnel, administrators, and students and analyze the programs successes; • Include critical reflection on the work of the organization using scholarly literature to support your analysis. • Find literature (scholarly articles and books) about the organization to support the thesis or purpose of the paper. Adult Education Theorist/Thinkers • Select a local, national, or international adult education theorist, thinker, or leader; • Provide background on the person including history, important writings or work; • Include a critical reflection on the person’s idea or work using scholarly literature to support your analysis; • Find literature (scholarly articles and books) about the person to support the thesis or purpose of the paper; • The person/thinker should be related more to adult education than K-12 education. Critical Literature Review of an Adult Learning Theory • Examine an area of adult education practice or individual learning theory regarding a contemporary issue or trend. • Develop a structured literature review about the topic by systematically analyzing the literature and presenting your findings. Also, contextualize the findings regarding agricultural and extension education. • Students must formulate a focused topic of interest and submit this topic for approval to the instructor via e-mail on or before the end of the third week of class.
