Prepare Your Project Proposal

1. Use the Project Proposal Template
2. Fill out completely and turn in to the course instructor in Blackboard and also email it to  from your Grantham email address.  The subject line for the email should be “Capstone YourGID – Term”.  If you need assistance, please contact the instructor prior to the due date.
3. Update the Lessons Learned Document and submit with your proposal.  Remember that the template is found in Week 1.  You will be using this template as a running document, adding to it as you go through ET410 and ET450.

The Performance of Feedback Control Systems

1. Watch video “EE495 – Week 2 – Lecture”
2. Read Chapter 5 in the text Modern Control Systems, 12th Edition.
3. Work the following problems:
   1. The closed-loop transfer function of a system is T(s) = 11.1(s +18)/ ((s + 20)(s2 + 4s +10))
      • Plot the poles and zeros of this system and discuss the dominance of the complex poles.  What overshoot for a step input do you expect?
   2. A unity feedback control system has the loop transfer function: L(s) = Gc(s)G(s) = K/(s(s +sqrt(2K))
      • Determine the percent overshoot and settling time (using a 2% settling criterion) due to a unit step input.
      • For what range of K is the settling time less than 1 second?
4. Save work in a file with the title: “HW2_StudentID”, with your student id substituted in the file name.  Show all work for full credit.

The Performance of Feedback Control Systems

1. A closed-loop control system has the transfer function T(s) as follows:  Y(s)/R(s) = T(s) = 2500/((s +50)(s2 +10s+50))
2. Use MATLAB to plot y(t) for a step input R(s).
3. Include all MATLAB code and screenshots in a Word entitled “Lab2_StudentID”.
4. Upload file “Lab2_StudentID”

Final Exam

The following exam is a final comprehensive exam, which consists of five essay questions. This exam is designed to test your critical and analytical skills, and your overall understanding of the negotiation process.

APA formatting is NOT required. 

1. Compare and contrast the distributive bargaining and integrative negotiation situation. Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each method, and how they affect the negotiation process. (A minimum of 300 words is required for this essay).
2. Identify and explain the kinds of tactics in negotiation that might be considered as ethically questionable. Why do negotiators use these tactics? What are the motives and consequences of using such tactics? (Be as detailed as possible. A minimum of 300 words is required for this essay).
3. Discuss the role of mood and emotion in negotiation process, and examine the effects of positive and negative emotions in negotiation. (Be specific, and provide a minimum of 300 words this essay).
4. Analyze the influence of culture on negotiation from the research perspectives. What are the effects of culture on negotiation outcomes, on the process and information flow, and the effects of culture on negotiator ethics and tactics? (Be specific, and provide a minimum of 300 words).
5. Evaluate why power is important to negotiators, and how to best deal with negotiators who have more power. (Be detailed, and provide a minimum of 300 words).
