Crime Scene Investigation 

1. View one TV show on forensics or crime scene investigation and analyze the program. Pick one aspect portrayed in the show, which in your opinion is an example of a valid forensic crime scene investigation, and another aspect of the show that is an example of how it is not a valid forensic crime scene investigation but instead portrayed more unrealistic and for the movies or Hollywood. 2. Explain why you chose your examples and why you feel it is a valid or not a valid forensic or crime scene investigation. 3. Include in your response, in your opinion, why shows of these genre are so popular and viewed by so many dedicated fans. 4. In your interpretation of the show, and your understanding of forensics, consider the Saint Leo core value of excellence and discuss how Hollywood’s treatment of the forensic and CSI fields may have a false standard of excellence for the view on the public. In 3-5 pages, including title page and reference page, respond to the following questions:

Explain the value of footprint or footwear evidence, how to preserve and photograph the evidence, and how to cast the impressions.

Discuss the procedures used in the examination of firearms evidence.

Use materials from the text and/or any outside resources to support your response.

You may use the textbook as a source, along with personal interviews, research and scholarly academic journals, available through the Kaplan online library. Follow American Psychological Association (APA) format with proper citations and references.

Assignment 2

Set up a mock crime scene in your vehicle and process it for evidence as you would at a real burglary to motor vehicle. Take pictures of the evidence and collect it by using the method of your choice. Note: for this learning activity you will not have package the evidence.

Submit at least four or five photos in a PowerPoint presentation with an explanation of the crime scene. Post your presentation in the Unit 9 Dropbox titled “Assignment 2.”

NOTE: if you do not have access to a digital camera, you may use a camera phone.

Please set up a mock crime scene of your choice and find shoe wear impressions in your crime scene. Take pictures of the evidence and collect them by using the method of your choice. Note: you will not have to CAST or LIFT them.
