Imperialism

For this discussion, I define “imperialism” as the policy of extending the rule or authority of a nation over foreign lands without the consent of the people who already live in those lands. It is generally believed that a democratic government gains its legitimacy, and therefore its power to govern, from the consent of the people it governs. Explain your position, using evidence from the video, textbook, and the linked website.
