Students will select what they believe is the single most challenging issue in each of the Criminal Justice System components based on the textbook and posted resources.* Papers will identify and explain one issue for Policing, one issue for Courts, and one issue for Corrections for a total of three issues. For each of the three components: Provide an overview of the component Identify the single most challenging issue for that component Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts, theories, and research studied in the course by identifying, explaining, and applying those to the identified issue Explain the impact of this issue on that component (outcomes) Explain the impact of this issue on the remaining two components Identify, explain, and apply ethical systems and related concepts to the identified issue Identify and explain solutions to the issue Identify and explain the ethical systems and concepts supporting the solutions Students must demonstrate an understanding of the concepts, theories, and research through the application to the issues. Concepts and theories must be identified (named) and explained in terms of the issues and outcomes. Likewise, ethical systems and concepts must be identified and explained and applied to the issue.
