Explain the difference between movie production and movie distribution. Does it surprise you that major film companies do not make (produce) all the films they distribute? Or that major film companies only make about 10 movies a year?

Choose one of the major movie companies (Paramount, Disney, Sony, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal, Warner Brothers) and answer the following questions. (1) What movies did this company make in 2008? (2) What movies did this company distribute in 2008 that it did not make? (3) What companies made those movies?

What was your favorite movie of all time? Which movie studio produced it? Which movie studio distributed it? How much did the movie cost to produce? How much revenue did the movie produce? Was the movie considered a hit by fans? Explain your answer. Was the movie considered a hit financially? Explain your answer.

The favorite movie that has been selected is Star Wars episode 1 The Phantom Menace.
