Organization Workshop: Reverse Outline
Project description
An outline is written before the actual paper has been written, while a reverse outline comes after the fact. We will use the sample student research papers to practice organization by observing their strengths and weaknesses. Choose any one student sample research paper and map it out (use the same method that you applied to mapping Jessamyn Neuhaus’ essay). Then using the map as a guide, write an outline for the paper. This reverse outline will lay bare the organizational principles of the paper.
Once you have successfully mapped out and outlined the paper, make some brief notes on the strengths and weaknesses of the writer’s organization principles. What would you do differently?
