Discussion 1 – Topic 2

A data model is a representation, usually graphical, of real-word data structures. Some well-known data models are hierarchical, network relational, entity relationship, object-oriented, object/relational and XML.

Part I:

Select and construct three data different models for a simple transcript database that contained the transcription information about graduate school teaching assistants (TA’s). The database is used to record all the earned degrees of the TA’s that incorporate the business rules below. Show each graphical model.

1. TA’s earned one or more undergraduate and graduate degrees from one or more universities.
2. Universities offer one or more undergraduate and graduate degrees.

• Post the graphical displays to the discussion and provide a brief description that explains how each model shows the business rules.

This module discussed several differences between individuals and corporations regarding tax treatment.

In your discussion post, provide the following;

• If a colleague asked you for advice on incorporating, list at least two questions you would ask them to help them decide their business structure from a tax perspective.

• Which two differences do you think are the most important for business owners to consider and why.
