Project description
You should create an illustrated essay containing 10 images.
All the images must be thematically connected and you need to begin with an introductory statement that gives the theme and your reasons for choosing it. Each image must be accompanied by all the relevant information on the source and an explanation of its connection to the theme. The theme should be relevant to your pathway and may be based on studio project work but must not be the same work submitted on other modules.
The text should be at least 1000 words in total and the images should consist of the following:
3 images of original work. Scanned or photographed art work, design work, photographs etc. You should give a full explanation of the materials, concept and any contextual and/or technical research.
2 images scanned from a library book or journal.
These must be related to research connected to the theme with full citation of the publication. This means in addition to information on the image itself – the designer/artist/title/mediums/date etc. etc.- you should include the following information on the source publication; author, date of publication, title of publication, name of publisher, place of publication and page number.
1 image from the web – full explanation of the image with details of the web address.
1 image of another student’s work – the work should be related to the theme and you should discuss similarities and/or differences in approach. You must obtain the student’s permission and provide their name.
You can create the essay in any application you like (Indesign, word) but the final submission should be a PDF uploaded to the Blackboard Research and Communication Skills turnitin assignment submission (link will be on the left main menu) and a hard copy to the Student Office by 16.00 on Wednesday 13 August 2014.
