I’m stuck on a Writing question and need an explanation.
What do you think of when you think of monsters and evil? What associations do you have? Do you immediately think of a creature with fangs dripping with blood stalking you through the night, or do you think of historical figures? Perhaps you think of a global health emergency (most often depicted in recent culture in the form of zombies)—this one hits pretty close to home right about now. Given the fact that we are not meeting in person due to a pandemic, what are your thoughts on viruses as monsters and how we respond to global threats (healthcare-related or otherwise). Take some time to write a reflection on what you think of when you think about monsters and why you think that might be the case. Keep in mind that we are in a fortunate position to have people in the class from a variety of cultures, so we may all have very different ideas of what monsters are. So, again, your broad prompt is: What do you think of when you think about monsters and evil, and why do you think we are afraid of them?
