Research and write your own Job Description of the career you hope to obtain: duties, responsibilities, work hours, salary range, requirements for promotion, highest promotion possible, unemployment rate in the field, employment outlook during the next decade, need for further education (advanced degrees, special training), employment rate in terms of geography, and optimum age bracket (i.e. in football, is one considered “aged” after 35?).

To successfully complete this assignment, create a thesis driven essay presenting your audience with a clear demonstration of your future career. After providing an objective analysis of your career field, offer a subjective explanation as to why you are a good fit for the career.

Extra Credit: 10 points

Take the (free) Myers-Briggs personality test—this test is often used by professionals to indicate if you are a good fit for their company. Write a two paragraph reflection on the results. Paragraph one should offer a summary of the results; paragraph two should be your response to the results and whether or not you believe or do not believe your career fits the results.

Homework #3

Reading: Chapter 3, supplemental reading on test taking

Instructions: Answer each question below thoroughly and honestly.  Your responses will be graded primarily for effort and completion.  Remember, this assignment is primarily designed for your own personal development and reflection.  There are not necessarily “right” or “wrong” answers to all of the questions…except for task 3.

1. Complete the following problems from your textbook.  Type your responses in any word-processor.

Chapter 3: 6, 8**

**Write 1-2 paragraphs instead of a full one page paper as the question instructs.

2.  Read the supplemental chapter on test taking (https://saylordotorg.github.io/text_college-success/s09-preparing-for-and-taking-tests.html (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.).  You should have completed the self assessment worksheet during class. If you missed this in class you can download the form here:Test Taking Reflection Worksheet.pdf   and complete the form on your own time. Write 1-2 paragraphs summarizing what you think are the most important and useful ideas in this reading.

3. Degree Plan Development: Pick a college major and transfer destination that you are interested in.  Plan your class schedule for your time at EvCC keeping in mind courses needed for an Associate of Science Degree, departmental entry and graduation requirements at the four-year school of your choice, and the quarters when courses and their prerequisites are usually offered.  Use the software tool of your choice to create an electronic record of your plan.  If this is not your first quarter at EvCC, include at least your previous two quarters of attendance in your plan.  You will appreciate having an easy to edit version for years to come.  Save you plan as a pdf to submit to this assignment.

EvCC requires all students to meet with a faculty advisor and develop a degree plan before they can register for their third quarter classes.  If you haven’t already completed a mandatory degree plan, schedule an advising appointment with one of the engineering advisors (http://evcc_engineering.youcanbook.meLinks to an external site.) or computer science advisors (http://evcc_cs.youcanbook.meLinks to an external site.). Bring your plan with you to your appointment as a starting point.  Your advisor will appreciate it!

4. Choose an engineering, computer science or related Bachelor of Science degree program (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.) at the same four-year school you used for task 2.  Use information provided on the department website to determine the Bachelor of Science degree requirements.  Figure out which classes you would be taking after transferring into that program with your EvCC associate degree.  List these upper division courses.  Make note of which classes are required and which are electives.  Note you can copy/paste from the department website into a Word document to minimize the typing required for this task.
