Background/history on the topic. 2. Why you selected the topic? 3. What is your position on the topic of choice? This should NOT be a full speech but just a brief summary highlighting the 3 points listed above. The executive summary must be: • One to two page, MLA Format (Double Space, 12 pt. Font, Times New Roman) • Work Cited Page (Sources included in your speech) #2 Persuasive Speech Assignment Learning Objectives After completing this assignment, students will be able to: • Identify target audiences and the areas where the target audience might be persuaded • Develop strategies in planning, composing and designing of a persuasive speech • Create and deliver a speech for an internal audience Description As an assignment, students will create and deliver a persuasive speech on a topic of public controversial debate. These controversies can range from local to national issues but must be current and pose some form of opposition that is debatable. TIME: The persuasive speech will range from run four (4) – six (6) minutes. During this time, you will introduce the topic, state and defend your position through a solid argument. SOURCES: You must orally cite a minimum of two sources. Your evidence must clearly support your arguments.
