WSJ#2 INDIVIDUAL TREND IMPACT REPORT

List and describe the impact of an important trend, within the last 30 days, as found in the WSJ. The trend does not have to be about hospitality, but does need to directly relate to and substantially impact the hospitality industry. The trend should be a topic that is receiving a lot of media “buzz”. There should be multiple news reports regarding the topic. Use at least 2 WSJ articles to reference your trend. Include the MLA citations in your assignment. In other words, cite 2 WSJ articles that describe this trend. Past examples have been: bedbugs, food recalls, minimum wage hikes, and mandatory healthcare. You will be asked to share your trend report with class in a seminar environment. In the United States, we are fortunate to have an abundant supply of food. However, this abundance is largely due to advances in agricultural technologies, which have in turn created numerous concerns surrounding our food sources. Provide at least two recent (since the Green Revolution ended) examples of how the United States has increased its food production, and discuss how these changes have affected both the environment and food safety.  Possible innovations you might cover include, but are not limited to: GM agriculture, polyculture farming, permaculture farming, vertical farms, small-scale organic farming, aquaponics, concentrated animal feeding operations, urban gardening (rooftop and vacant lot), not-till farming, precision farming, use of drones, and use of GPS technology.
