Currently the majority of EMS patient care is provided by individuals and EMS services who volunteer their time and skills (78% volunteer verses 22% paid personnel). EMS is the only discipline of medicine that relies on such a high volume of volunteers rather than paid personnel.
For the profession to grow and mature as similar medical professions, should EMS cease allowing volunteers to provide patient care? Yes or No and justify your response. (There is no right or wrong response, as long as you take a side and provide justification for your decision).
