Looking at our teaching practices. It’s also important that we do that in connection with the Christian faith. What makes a teacher distinctively Christian? How can colleagues and students see the Christian identity in a teacher? What makes a Christian teacher’s teaching practices different from a non-Christian teacher? Think of it this way… breaking bread, eating bread, and drinking wine (or grape juice) is not distinctively Christian. Nor is eating a meal in memory or celebration of an event or individual. Non- Christians do both of those things as well. However, partaking in communion becomes distinctively Christian when the elements and memory are informed by the the story of the gospel. Whether you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or not, spend some time thinking about how having a distinctively Christian faith can affect one’s teaching.
