Choose a Eukaryotic Cell Organelle. Identify a disease caused by the malfunctioning of the organelle and briefly describe the main points of the disease (ex. how it occurs, symptoms, prognosis, etc.). (For example, Tay Sachs disease is caused by malfunctioning lipase enzymes of the lysosomes. Lipases normally break down fats, but in this disease they can not. These fats build up to toxic levels in brain cells and disrupt nerve cell function in the brain. This is a recessively inherited genetic disease and affected rarely live past 5 yrs of age).
