Are we really seeing much worse crimes and younger offenders than in the past? Can we provide empirical evidence to back this up?
I think that one thing that you guys will find in this course is that perception and reality in juvenile justice are quite different for most people. There are a lot of predetermined ideas about the system that just might not be true. Our week one assignment will discuss in depth the current trends in juvenile crime, and many of you will be a bit surprised with what the current trends actually are.
