The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

details 1). Investigate the following allusions (literary references) in The Handmaid’s Tale and explain the connection to the book by citing it liberally, along with your sources: • Rise of second wave feminism. • Anti-feminism and anti-abortion violence in the 1980s. The terms listed above will have to be thoroughly researched and explained. Your thesis should make some kind of claim about one or both of the works above and how one of these concepts relates to them. An interesting, attention-grabbing title. Use MLA format, 8th edition. An arguable, debatable thesis. Provide good claims and reasons for your thesis. Every source used should be cited. Your sources should be cited in combination: both direct quotes and paraphrases are encouraged. If you cite more than four lines of any text, you will have to use block quotations. 2). DO NOT use random sources. PLEASE ONLY USE SCHOLARLY SOURCES. For the Scholarly Sources, find and use: 1. Literary essays written about the book. 2. Analytical essays written about the book. 3. Essays or articles on the topics (Rise of second wave feminism). (Anti-feminism and Anti-abortion violence in the 1980s). 4. The book (The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood). Use the 1998 edition. You need to find a way to connect your research of the events above to the general story in the novel. A note on quotes: a general rule of thumb is – don’t use more of a quote than your own work.
