Learning Outcomes and Course Reflection

Part 1: In this final reflection journal, read through the course outcomes for this class and reflect on your learning. How have your thoughts changed about the history of the field and discipline of human services, and the varying perspectives and contexts from which the field is constituted?

1. Explain in breadth the historical evolution of the human services field.
2. Evaluate the major contributing and evolving societal and socio-cultural issues and factors involved in the development of the human services field.
3. Summarize the major philosophical and ideological perspectives that have defined the human services field throughout history.
4. Compare and contrast the varied political, social, and economic perspectives throughout the human services professions.
5. Define the differences among past and present human services careers, human services worker characteristics, prevention methods, ethical concerns, value systems, and controversial issues in the process of change.
