Discussion 2: The Effect of Conflict on Couples

This Discussion centers on conflict in relationships, specifically the most common issues leading to conflict that you are likely to encounter as a professional counselor.

You will analyze Gottman’s “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” conflict types, and how each might impact a couple’s relationship. You also reflect on your comfort level while addressing conflict and facilitating difficult situations.

Post by Day 4 a brief description of an issue related to conflict in couples. Explain which of Gottman’s “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” could impact this issue. Next, explain how each of Gottman’s types of conflict might impact a couple’s relationship. Finally, reflect on your comfort level addressing conflict in couples and facilitating potentially difficult situations.
