What functions do the respiratory and cardiovascular system have in common?

The respiratory system intakes oxygen, infuses oxygen into the blood. The cardiovascular system circulates the oxygen throughtout the body. The cardiovascular system transfer ##”CO”_2## it collects and returns it to the respiratory system.

The two systems work in conjunction with each other. The respiratory system is responsible for gathering oxygen, necessary for the cells in the body to function correctly and for expelling carbon dioxide (##”CO”_2##) from the body.

Decomposition of food and dying cells in the body produce ##”CO”_2## which if not removed from the body would suffocate the body.

##”CO”_2## also aids oxidation that causes deterioration of the organs. Therefore, it is important that the ##”CO”_2## be removed from the body.

The cardiovascular system distributes the oxygen to the cells in the body and gathers the ##”CO”_2## from the body and then passes the ##”CO”_2## back to the respiratory system for expulsion.
