He is credited with founding Japanese Buddhism and the seventeen articles

He developed seventeen articles based on confucian values. He also established twelve ranks in the court and eventually united the entire country. His interest in China and confucian values led his successor to institute the Taika reforms which were implemented just after he had died. These reforms still influence modern Japan.
