During this period of time (medieval), the “Church” (Catholic) became the most powerful and influencial organization in the West. What made it so powerful and did it use its power properly? If not, how did they abuse their power? Has religion been a positive or negative influence on culture or humanity over the ages? Why do you feel this way? Would the world be better or worse without religion? Why or why not? What has religion brought the world other than conflict and problems? Hasn’t the ‘West’ been the most powerful region and have the most powerful nations in the last 1000 years because of their choice of religion (Christianity)? Why or why not? Does this prove that Christianity is the ‘better’ religion? Why or why not?
