An analysis research paper.

An analysis research paper. Description Write a research paper on a work of music. This should not merely be a biography of a musician or musical group, but an analysis and interpretation of one or more of their works of art. The essay should demonstrate college-level writing and offer a substantial and interesting analysis and interpretation of the artwork and theme under consideration. The essay should be grammatically correct and use the vocabulary acquired in the class to analyze particular works of music. Need to find peer-reviewed, academic resources so you might not be able to write about someone like Taylor Swift (and I definitely do not want to read another paper on Michael Jackson). That said, there are certain musical artists who have been analyzed by musical or cultural historians and other academics (Tupac Shakur, Lady Gaga and Bob Dylan come to mind) so it is possible to write a good paper on your favorite musician. Just make sure that it is more than fandom—make sure you are integrating external critique into your own analysis and interpretation of their work. — You might want to explore protest music: from the history of the song “We Shall Overcome” or “Strange Fruit”, Linkin Park’s “Hands Held High”, Macklemore’s “Same Love”, Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way” or multiple tracks by Jack Johnson that address environmental issues. — You might want to explore how music affects fashion which means you would focus on a particular type of music: Emo, Punk Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop. — You might want to focus on how music affects dance. — You might want to explore a more philosophical topic such as how music is used for mental health therapy or how it helps maintain physical health. — You might want to focus on how music is used in a particular video game or a particular film or film franchise.
