I don’t understand this Psychology question and need help to study.
1. Describe a culture you belong to or identify with. Remember that culture is not necessarily tied to geography or ethnicity! You may belong to the K-Pop stan culture, the LGBTQ+ culture, the cosplay culture… You all belong to the MCPHS culture and you are welcome to use that if you would like.
- Explain some of the key elements of the culture you are analyzing. How are these elements communicated to new members? What happens when a member defies the norms embedded into these elements? Have you had a process of forming or re-forming an identity in relation to this particular culture?
- These are questions to get you started if you feel stuck. You are welcomed to explain the culture you are choosing to analyze in whatever way is most relevant and meaningful to you, while also demonstrating the critical thinking skills we have focused on in this course.
2. Connect your experience/explanation of your culture to at least one distinct concept from this week’s reading OR to a relevant concept from a previously covered unit in this course.
- Use appropriate vocabulary and provide a definition of the concept in your own words. Include supporting information to clarify the connection you are making.
3. By this point in the term you have thoroughly integrated the understanding that culture is a hugely important influence on development through the lifespan. Conclude your contribution with a brief reflection about how this knowledge is beneficial to you as an individual, a community member, and/or a future healthcare professional.
