In the 19th century many people thought of the U.S. as a place with unlimited individual economic opportunity and a place where social equality and political democracy reigned supreme. Do you think this accurately describes real conditions in the U.S. between 1865-1900? Why/why not.
I would like for you to argue that the U.S. did not successfully deliver economic opportunity and social equality. You can decide if the United States truly represented political democracy, as I don’t know much about that. Of course, my professor is expecting specific historical facts to support this argument. The title must refer to the prompt and the first paragraph must be a summary of the answer to the prompt. As for format, it must be double spaced with a 1 inch margin.
