How to Compose a Proper Post
Effective participation in discussion forums is critical to your success in this class. Here are the ABCs of an effective original post.
A – Answer the question. When crafting your posts, make sure that you address all parts of the prompt. Your posts must be thorough and thoughtful. Make sure to restate the question in your answer. Your classmates should be able to know and understand what you are discussing without having to go back and read the prompt.
B – Back up your opinions with facts. You will often be asked to take a side or a stance on certain issues. Everyone can have an opinion, but in order for your opinions to be taken seriously you must back them up with evidence. You also need to explain your evidence to let your readers know how the data cited specifically backs up your argument.
C – Cite your evidence. If you use someone else’s ideas please remember to cite their work at the bottom of your entry. Discussion forum posts should largely be in your own words. But, when it is absolutely necessary to directly quote another source, remember to use quotations and, again, cite your work.
In addition to these ABCs, you must keep your posts to one or two paragraphs. Take a stand, give evidence to support that stand, and post. Remember, your classmates will be reading and responding to you. Being thoughtful and thorough is not necessarily synonymous with being verbose. Be concise!
1.Consider the market for 7-eleven slurpees. In a market economy only those consumers who are willing and able to pay for Slurpees get Slurpees, is this fair? What about the market for health care?
Post your answer and respond to two other classmates for full credit. You are unable to see other posts until you submit your post first.
2.Take 2 photos. For the item in photo 1 have an elastic demand and the item in photo 2 have an inelastic demand. Explain each photo to the class.
3.What is cost-benefit analysis of a public good? Why is it important? Why is it hard?
4.Give two examples of price discrimination. In each case explain why the monopolist chooses to follow this business stategy.
Note: It helps to research the elasticity for many items. Reality is often different than our perceptions.
